Maitland Trail Association Takes Action Against Invasive Plant Species

The Maitland Trail Association (MTA) is actively managing invasive plant species along our trails! This challenging yet vital work is essential for preserving our natural ecology.

In partnership with Compass Minerals and the Town of Goderich, MTA continues its Buckthorn Control and Remediation Project along the Sifto Loop and Maitland Woods. The Sifto Loop land is owned by Compass Minerals, while the Maitland Woods land is owned by the Town of Goderich. These efforts are crucial in maintaining the health and beauty of our trails.

This project is made possible by funding support from the Invasive Species Centre Action Fund and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

For more information, please visit the MTA website's invasive species project page.
