About the event

*** Due to an overwhelming response this year, registration for the El Camino Maitland is now sold out! ***

Join us for the El Camino Maitland, our exciting annual fundraising event happening this September! Participants embark on a rewarding journey by hiking the full trail or a chosen distance over a weekend, connecting with new friends along the way. Friendly volunteers await you at checkpoints with encouragement, snacks, and support to help you cross the finish line!

NEW FOR 2024! Kids 17 & under hike for FREE with FREE PARKING!

This 2-day adventure spans most of the picturesque Maitland Trail, starting near Auburn and ending at the shores of Lake Huron in Goderich. As you near the finish, soak in breathtaking views of the Maitland River and Lake Huron while crossing the 750-foot Menesetung Bridge.

THE HIKE:

The trail covers approximately 50.6 km with options for shorter distances (Saturday – 16 km or 11 km and/or Sunday – 13 km).

You'll journey through the captivating lower Maitland River route, passing ecological landmarks. The path varies from narrow to wide, winding through forests, farmlands, river vistas, autumn meadows, and towering woods. Keep an eye out for local wildlife like toads, salamanders, birds, and possibly even eagles. Embrace the natural beauty, but be prepared for encounters with insects and rain—it's all part of the adventure! Hikers under 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
